Complete Guide to Odoo IoT Box Network & Device Connection
You can use Odoo IoT Boxes to connect your equipment (such as scales, label printers, cameras, calipers) to your Odoo database using the Odoo IoT Box. Odoo IoT Boxes are designed to your hardware’s main connection hub. You just need to connect your devices to the IoT Box to get data from devices straight to Odoo. No need to manually enter data or search for drivers.
In this blog, we will walk you through how to set up and connect an Odoo IoT Box step by step. You will learn how the IoT Box works, how to connect it using Ethernet or Wi-Fi, how to detect connected devices like printers, and how to assign the IoT Box to POS, manufacturing, and other Odoo operations. By the end of this guide, you’ll clearly understand how to get your IoT Box up and running and start sending device data directly into Odoo without manual effort.
Ethernet Connection
The Ethernet cable should connected to the Ethernet port on the IoT Box, as well as to an available port on your router. The IoT Box should then be powered.
Wi-Fi Connection
Before starting, make sure that no Ethernet cable is connected to the IoT Box.
- Plug the IoT Box into a power source and allow a few minutes for it to boot up.
- On your computer, open the Wi-Fi settings and look for the IoT Box network. The network name will displayed as IoTBox-XXXXXXXXXXXX, where XXXXXXXXXXXX is a unique identifier
- Select and connect to the IoT Box Wi-Fi network. Once connected, your web browser will automatically open and redirect you to the IoT Box homepage.
- You can configure the IoT box’s Internet status by clicking Configure on the box’s homepage.
- Connect after waiting a few minutes for the available networks to scanned, selecting the network, and entering the Wi-Fi’s password.
Device Detection, Network Discovery, and Odoo Module Integration
When you connect the IoT box to a receipt or label printer via USB the IP address will automatically appears
A third-party network scanner can used to scan the network for an IoT box or by accessing the router’s admin interface.
Click the (power off) button on the top-right corner of the IoT box’s homepage to restart it manually.
POS, manufacturing, and other operations can now assigned to the IoT Box from the IoT dashboard. The source computer or device must be on the same network as the IoT Box for the initial discovery to take place.
The Odoo IoT Box makes it easy to connect hardware devices directly to your Odoo system and automate daily tasks without having to enter data by hand. The setup is easy and works every time, no matter if you use Ethernet or Wi-Fi. When connected, printers, scales, cameras, and other devices can easily work with Odoo modules for point of sale, manufacturing, and other purposes.
By using the IoT Box correctly, businesses can save time, reduce errors, and improve operational efficiency. A properly configured IoT Box helps you get real-time data from your devices and ensures smoother workflows across your Odoo environment.
